The last thing a
person restoring their car wants is to spend all of their
time, money and effort going through the restoration process
to produce a flawless car only to have its value destroyed
by reoccurring rust.
Most body shops
business is based on quick high volume in and out collision
repair. If they want to restore your car by filling,
fiber glassing or patching rusted panels, don’t walk…….RUN!
We at Select
Motors know rust repair and body panel replacement is one of
the most critical steps in the restoration process. We take
great pride in producing rust free bodies. We do this
by first
Chemically Stripping and E-Coating
the body and body panels. This is our method of choice
because good metal remains undamaged and is not weakened by
the process. In this process all old paint, body
filler, rust, seam sealer and foreign materials are stripped
away. It is only after the metal stripping process that it
becomes apparent which panels should be repaired or
replaced.
Now panels damaged
by the rot and pitting caused by the existence of previous
of rust must be cut away. It is in these situations
that our technicians cut out the weakened or rotten panels
prior to welding new patch panels. In the event that new
panels are not available on the market our
Custom Metal Fabrication
technicians will fabricate the necessary replacement.
Great care is
taken to insure the original integrity of the body remains
in order to provide a good surface for proper panel
alignment and to insure a solid base for a quality paint
finish.
